AmeriCorps, the federal agency for national service and volunteerism, provides opportunities for Americans to serve their country domestically, address the nation’s most pressing challenges, improve lives and communities, and strengthen civic engagement. Each year, the agency places more than 200,000 AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers in intensive service roles; and empowers millions more to serve as long-term, short-term, or one-time volunteers.

VISTA Member Benefits (year long member):
Members can choose to receive the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award, worth approximately $6,495.00 (voucher), or an end-of-service cash stipend, with approximately $1,800, at the end of their service term. Check out the EdAward site to learn which student loans qualify.
Relocation Travel Allowance: This allowance is based on the direct mileage between your home address and your VISTA service site.
Settling-In Allowance is a one time payment of $750 intended to help cover initial settling in costs such as utility deposits, rental application fees.
Personal Leave: 10 days (vacation, personal days, religious observances).
Medical: 10 days (illness, injury, medical appointments).
